The UNESCO site “Medici villas and gardens in Tuscany” consists of 14 villas and gardens of the Medici family located in Tuscany, and has been inscribed since 2013 in the World Heritage List, established by UNESCO. The Medici villas and gardens are the testimony of the aristocratic rural residence as the incarnation, at the end of the Middle Ages, of a series of new political, economic and aesthetic ambitions. They constituted models that spread widely throughout Italy during the Renaissance and then throughout modern Europe and were eminent examples of the aristocratic country villa dedicated to leisure, the arts and knowledge.
The course, promoted by the Tuscany Region as part of the measures aimed at valorising the regional sites included in the World Heritage List, provides the knowledge bases for the development of unconventional educational paths aimed at raising awareness among primary and secondary school pupils on the value of the cultural and artistic heritage present in their territory and to develop the key competences of Citizenship and Constitution.
The course is free and is valid for the compulsory teacher training. Once the course has been successfully completed, a certificate will be issued by IRSEF, a body accredited by MIUR for teacher training.
