AEDEKA was commissioned by the Central Institute for the Union Catalogue of Italian Libraries and Bibliographic Information (ICCU) to provide technical-specialist support to the European 4CH and ARIADNE PLUS projects, funded under the EU Horizon 2020 Programme in the domain of the e-infrastructures. The assignment included support in the preparation of contributions for the deliverables, the organisation of project meetings and events, the management of capacity-building, stakeholder consultation, communication and dissemination activities, the identification of case studies, the development of guidelines and best practices, and the implementation of piloting activities.
The 4CH project aims to set up the methodological, procedural, and organisational framework of a Competence Centre for the preservation and conservation of cultural heritage, an infrastructure dedicated to knowledge organisation and transfer through means such as training, standardisation and inter-disciplinary collaboration. Using a holistic and multidisciplinary approach, the Competence Centre facilitates coordination between cultural heritage Institutions across Europe and provides services and tools to enable preservation and conservation of historical monuments and sites using the latest, most effective technologies with special attention to 3D.
The ARIADNEPLUS project is the extension of the previous ARIADNE project (active since 2013), which successfully integrated archaeological data infrastructures in Europe. The ARIADNEplus data infrastructure is embedded in a cloud that offers the availability of Virtual Research Environments where data-based archaeological research can be carried out. The project furthermore develops a Linked Open Data approach to data discovery, making available to users innovative services, such as visualisation, annotation, text mining and geo-temporal data management.
